The Riccarton Market - Sue Rowe

The Riccarton Market was established in 1988 with a trailer full of "stuff" not wanted from Riccarton Rotary Club Rotarians, parked outside the Riccarton Library.

Over the years the boot sale concept grew and grew until today, when we have over 200 stallholders.  The Riccarton Market has been on it's current site, behind the Riccarton Racecourse, for the last 18 years.

The Riccarton Market has something for everyone and everything for someone and prides itself on being a family orientated market

  • Bouncy castles and children's bungy in the entertainment area
  • Live music on stage every Sunday
  • Food stalls from around the world
  • Fresh produce, artisan bread, cheeses, free range eggs and when in season cherries and stone fruit from the Nelson and Central Otago regions.
  • Antiques and collectables are still heavily featured in the market and with the worldwide trend to upcycle and recycle, are becoming more and more popular.
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Pounamu
  • Clothing
  • Giftware
  • Woodwork
  • Jewellery
  • Second hand books & tools
  • Fresh flowers
  • Beauty products

and much, much more are offered each Sunday from 9 to 2 p.m. rain or shine.

The Riccarton Rotary Charitable Trust owns The Riccarton Market, with three Rotary Club of Riccarton Committees distributing the surpluses from the market, back into the community and overseas projects.

To date there has been over $3 million distributed back into the community including the Kilmarnock Enterprises delivery van;  Life Education wheelchair lift for easy access into their educational trailers;  Go Baby Go cars for disabled children and School Speech Contests to name a few.

So come and enjoy
